On November 6th, pastor Jim Kinsler will discuss his lifetime quest to hike the 2,197 mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. His presentation will inspire and entertain as he shares his personal experiences and “do’s and don’ts” from the trail.

Both programs are on Thursdays and begin at 6 pm. Food and drink served.

More About Lynette Eason:

Lynette Eason’s books have appeared on the USA TODAY, Publisher’s Weekly, CBA, ECPA, and Parable bestseller lists. She has won numerous awards including the Carol, the Selah, the Golden Scroll and more. Her novel, Her Stolen Past was made into a movie for the Lifetime Movie Network.

Lynette teaches at writing conferences all over the country and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), Mystery Writers of America (MWA), International Thriller Writers (ITW), and Faith, Hope, and Love.

In her newest book, the 4th novel of the Lake City Heroes series, Air Marshal Kristine Duncan thwarts a hijacking attempt and must then solve a much deeper mystery with the help of FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross.

More About Jim Kinsler and the Appalachian Trail:

The Appalachian Trail (AT) turned  100 years old in 2025. This 2,197 mile footpath follows the peaks and valleys of the Appalachian Mountains from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine. The fastest known time (FKT) to traverse the entire length of the “AT” was set in 2024 by Tara Dowler (trail name, Candy Mama). She finished the trail in 40 days and 18 hours.

Pastor Jim Kinsler, retired pastor of Lutheran Church By The Lake, (trail name, SLOWjourner) is working on the slowest known time (SKT). He started hiking the AT before he graduated high school in 1973. He reached Katahdin on August 19th in 2025,  but he is still not finished! As he explains, “I only have 75 miles left to hike, and there is no rush.” Come and hear his stories as he recalls, “The Appalachian Tales of the SLOWjourner,  the Walk of a Lifetime.”

The presentation inspires and entertains, as he shares stories and  experiences that will make you laugh and cry. The event will include pictures from his hike, a list of memorable trail names, a display of hiking gear (new and old), as well as. “do’s and don’t’s” of the trail (learned the hard way), and samples of “hiker fuel” (When you eat on trail it is fuel that keeps your soles moving; when you hit town, what you eat becomes a feast to feed your soul,).

Those individuals who complete the 2,197 miles of the AT in a calendar year are known as “Through Hikers.” So come enjoy the stories and tales of the “SLOWjourner” , the NEVER THROUGH HIKER!
