Snakes are probably some of the most feared, hated and misunderstood animals around.  Some people even believe that, “the only good snake is a dead one!” Snakes actually play an important role in our backyards, so to help correct some myths and misconceptions, the McCormick Library will offer a free program about snakes on Thursday, April 13th at 6:30 pm.

Attendees will learn how snakes contribute to our environment, about common snakes found in South Carolina, how to distinguish between venomous and harmless snakes and about general snake safety tips. The program will be conducted by Carol Mavity, a local master gardener who was once a city girl (Indianapolis), but now enjoys frogs in her pond, bluebirds in her birdhouses and, most of all,  snakes in her yard.
