On Thursday February 27th at 6 pm, the McCormick Library will host local author Dr. Fay Stapleton Burnett. Dr. Burnett has written two books about Georgia women who were accused of murders in the 1800s. She discovered the true stories quite by accident while researching her own family’s genealogy. Her books, The Hanging of Susan Eberhart and Miss Elvira Ivey, will be available for sale and signing. The free presentation will be followed by light refreshments.

Dr. Burnett is a retired dentist who now enjoys spending time researching her family genealogy and events in Georgia history.  A native of Metter, Ga., Fay is a graduate of Tift College in Forsyth, Ga. and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. She and her husband, Rev. Brock Burnett, recently retired to Lake Russell in Elbert County after spending 31 years in Winder, Ga. where Brock served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.
