The McCormick Library has partnered with SC Access to provide educational wireless internet access to students at home and on-the-go. Beginning August 18th, a limited number of internet hotspots will be available to borrow from the library.

Details:

If you are a public school student in McCormick, contact the school district to receive a hotspot.

Any other student, either child or adult, may borrow a hotspot from the library if they are enrolled in an educational program that results in a diploma, degree, or certificate AND they do not have internet access at home. Homeschoolers are eligible.

These mobile hotspots can be used anywhere to create a wireless network, allowing you to connect a Wi-Fi enabled device to the internet. A Verizon 4G cellular network signal is required.  If you are in a location without Verizon cell phone signal, the hotspot will not work.

The hotspots provide educationally filtered access to the internet and are intended for school work only. Many sites, including social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, are blocked through the educational filter. If a site needed to complete an assignment is blocked, the library can unblock it by request.

Hotspots may be borrowed for an entire semester. Devices checked out now must be returned to the library by Dec. 30th, 2020.
